Hi, I have a surface book 2 15", it’s 2.5 years old, it’s heavily used, the keyboard battery won’t charge, stays at 0%. (the Tablet battery is fine) I understand the keyboard Battery may have died of age, if that’s the case, I’ll replace it. but my problem is that the Tablet battery won’t charge if I plug the charger in the keyboard port, though the indicator light comes on, the percentage won’t increase. it’ll charge only if I eject the Tablet and plug it in directly, My question is, Is it because of the faulty keyboard Battery or charger or something wrong with the keyboard base? will replacing the keyboard battery fix it?
I guess the power circuit in the keyboard portion is having issues, this may prevent the keyboard half from properly turning on and supply power to upper part. However you have the device and we don’t, you can’t get far by just asking, you need to swap the parts yourself to try.
Have you upgraded to windows 11, this happened to me yesterday
I have the same device, age, etc - and the exact same issue. No issues running on Windows 10 for years. I upgraded to Windows 11 in January - and no problems until an update last week. the keyboard base battery doesn’t charge or pass charge to the tablet. But if I manually disconnect the tablet from the base, the battery holds charge.
Has anyone found a solution to this? I have the exact same issue. The tablet won’t charge unless plugged in directly.
Dumb Question it wasn’t stated if the base worked at all like keyboard/touch pad? Does the OS recognize the 2nd battery? If those are working and it’s just the charging that isn’t working, unfortunately you will need to either take it apart and inspect or try finding someone w/ a screen so you can try it out, I highly doubt it’s software. I myself took a gamble on the dock connector when my base kept disconnecting from the tablet even though it was connected, and it was a good gamble.
