Lg t.v just has black screen I have sound can change the channel basically everything works except picture seems like the back lighting isn’t coming on but i do notice on one of mother board a real bad swollen capacitor could that be the problem Wal Mart or company won’t do nothing or do a return due to it was purchased during the covid19 pandemic

Hi @bubshepherd420 , It may be especially if the faulty capacitor is on the power board. It is very unusual that a component would fail this early on in its life unless there was a problem elsewhere, or it was faulty (production problem?) or it was the wrong one installed. Given that LG won’t do a warranty repair according to what is shown on their website: “Home Electronic products including televisions, sound bars, home theatre systems, projectors, etc. at this time are considered non-essential and will need to be booked or brought to a service depot, pending the case, at a future date.” I suggest that before doing anything to the capacitor that you take pictures of it etc and email the manager of LG support about it (with pictures), explaining that you’ve been advised it can’t be fixed in the foreseeable future by them and this shouldn’t have happened given how new the TV is and ask what can be done. They may say that by opening the TV you have voided the warranty (Catch-22 situation?) and not go any further. If this is the case you may as well replace it and check what happens. It never hurts to ask first, you never know ;-) Just my $0.02
