Chosen Solution

Hi everyone, I’ve had my PS4 for a little over a year now and this is not the 1st time my console has had trouble ejecting discs. It will start to grind like it is going to eject the disc and then it won’t. If I flip the system so the slot is facing the ground it will finally eject the disc. Is there any way to resolve my issue? I would really like to know what could be causing this since the other time this happened it cleared up on its own. Thank you.

The first generation PS4’s have a known issue of disk ejection failures. Not all do it. Some eject disks mid game. There are many fixes out there. Sony suggests you disconnect your PS4 from a power source and disconnect everything from the device including HDMI etc. Then press and hold the power button, it should double beep. Wait 30 minutes then plug everything back in and see if it works. Another suggested fix is to remove the top sliding cover, and peering down the side where the hard drive slots in you will see (with a light) a small slotted screw. Turn this screw until it feels tighter, then try your unit. The screw is the manual eject button. Software reinstall may fix this issue. (not likely), one other is removing the rubber foot near the eject button as it supposedly creates a friction issue. Otherwise the last and only fix left is called the Gold button fix. The problem is tension inside. There are little rollers that spin and roll the disc out. If the spring has become loose the plastic that these are attached to will become floppy and will not be strong enough to push our disc. So you have to open the disc drive to find a little spring. This spring needs to be tightened to create more tension so that the rollers have enough strength to push against the disc to roll it out if that makes sence

take it apart and clean it Update (11/09/2021) It could be that the tray is block by dust dirt ect
