Apple iMac 27" mid 2011 i7 3.4ghz Can I do a direct swap from the existing 3.5 HD for a Seagate 2TB Desktop SSHD without needing new cables (especially thermal sensor cable)?

Roger, you’ll need the cable kit for installing the SSD too ;-) https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/DIYI… Here’s the kit for doing a 3.5" drive: https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/DIYI… You really didn’t think you could get around Apples’ monopoly did you?

You can if you want your iMac to sound like its about to take flight. Without the cable, the iMac fan runs at full speed all the time and there isnt a way to stop it. If your going through the trouble to open the computer to do this upgrade, you should just do it right.
