Surround Sound For Blu Ray Player Blu Ray Player

I have a Denon x3500 a Lg 55” UM6910PUC TV and a LG bk80 4k blu ray player. I have the blu ray, and tv hook to the avr and the blu ray is only giving me options for 2.1. I can’t get 5.1 or 7.1 sound. I can only get all speakers going when i set the avr to multi chan stereo. I’ve set the setting on the disk to 5.1 and still nothing. With what I’ve explained for my set up, am i missing something simple?

Hi, Did you mean a LG UBK80 BR player? If so, are you using an optical cable connection between the BR player and the receiver or a HDMI connection? Looking at the user manual from the link above, 5.1. and 7.1 outputs are only available when using HDMI (see p.49)
