This iPad Air is almost 2 years old. I put in in a drawer for a few days. Took it out and it is compeletely unresponsive to touch. I have

  • Reinstalled iOS8.3 from scratch
  • Reset with power+home button Even after a clean reinstall with no restore of backup it just is completely unresponsive to touch.
  • I have not dropped it
  • No liquid damage Has anyone experienced this? Is there any fix other than go to Apple (who will charge me I think since it is out of warranty) UPDATE ## I was wrong about the “no damage”. Seems there is a small dent on the back. See enclosed picture where I have outlined the dent. Somebody has used it and put it back obviously. I don’t care who did it though. I just wonder if anyone has an idea if this dent is in a critical place that could affect the touch scree. The home button seems to work.

If it is under warranty then i would suggest bringing it to apple. If not then a local repair tech with a good reputation im sure they can sort this issue out for you as more than likely it is not a software issue as you have done a full factory restore which leaves only hardware. Here are some trouble shooting steps.

  • When the iPad Air is off, use a damp microfiber cloth to clean the screen gently.
  • If there’s a screen protector on your iPad Air it could be the culprit.
  • Try pressing the Home button three times or check in Settings > General > Accessibility and make sure that VoiceOver isn’t turned on.

I have to say, I have the same exact problem. Tiniest dent, the stupid thing can’t turn on.
