From the time I purchased my Epson Stylus C88 it has printed black evenly spaced horizontal lines through my documents. I have done multiple cleanings, alignments, new cartridges, reinstalled the driver, tried different settings, reset the printer, etc. When I called Epson they said it probably had to do with the fact that I used generic cartridges. Does anyone know how I can stop this. Maybe a way to turn off the monitoring ink. I have seen videos but I do not have the option under maintenance to disable. Maybe someone has made a driver to override the Epson driver? I need to print my resume.
Hi @maganedinger , Thank you for that. The drivers for your printer have been supplied by the Windows OS since before Windows Vista, so unfortunately there are no other drivers available. There is however a way to test your printer without using the computer. At least enough to determine whether it is a printer problem or a computer / printer problem. If the lines are still evident on the “test” page then there is a problem with the printer itself. If there are no lines then there is a problem with either the cable connection to the printer (is it run near power cables by any chance?) or the computer, (have you tried it connected to another computer to see if the problem is there?).
Epson printers only accept Epson cartridges. Generic cartridges may even damage the printer. See the link below: https://epson.com/faq/SPT_C11C617001~faq… I also suspect the printer’s cartridges because the problem started when you first bought the printer. Epson may be designing its products to malfunction unless they use Epson accessories.
