I can’t do a factory restore or update my iPhone 6 Plus while connected to iTunes. I keep getting a error 53 message. I changed my screen recently and during the repair I tore the wafer cable to the home button, so I just changed the Touch ID/home button. I heard that my fingerprint would no longer be able to be used which it wasn’t but why would that prevent me from doing an upgrade and ultimately being stuck on iTunes connect screen? What can I do to fix it?? Please help!!
On iPhone 6 or newer devices, dead/replaced home buttons will result in dead devices once you try to upgrade/reinstall iOS. This is likely to enforce Apple Pay security. Since the home button assembly is damaged, the entire device is a write-off, impossible to be repaired whatsoever unless you get Apple to repair it for you. Do not even attempt to replace the home button on those devices and during transfer, be extremely careful. I have stressed this many times however people still fall for this.
Hi Stephen It seems you have changed the Home Button Flex with that, error 53 is usually associated with the Touch iD function. If you replace the Touch iD / Home Button Flex, the error will come up. You basically need to restore the iPhone with its original Touch iD / Home Button in order for it to work. If you cannot then I do bot believe there is any other way to restore the phone. Regards
