The second time this has happened! Last time I had the hard drive replaced. However, I want to know what is causing this and if there is any other way to solve this issue? Occasionally I can actually enter my password and access the desktop but then it freezes, crashes and returns to the blue screen… error CRITICAL_PROCESS_DIED. Actually the Asus notebook UX430U

Since you had the hard drive replaced (which yes, DOES hang Asus BIOSes), it may be bad RAM. I don’t know why this wasn’t attempted first, but it should have been diagnosed with a RAM check first to even know if it’s going to happen again. It’s soldered, so you’re looking at a replacement board if the RAM is bad and the tech may lose the SSD and repair payment if they can’t find the original to make you whole and didn’t return it right away, unless they buy a board and potentially end up finding out it’s cheaper to give you your money back and the laptop if they have that out available. I would have checked the RAM and told you if it’s a waste of time for that exact reason - especially if I seen errors the first pass. It’s going to hurt so bad it won’t happen again since they’ll be out parts and money. If you have access to a working computer, download memtest 86+ and run this until you have a solid 5-7 full scans. If there’s no issues with the RAM, I would check the replacement hard drive since you did not state if it was a used spare or a new one. Your best bet to check the new drive is to use Parted Magic and check the SMART data. If both the RAM and hard drive check out, you need to reinstall Windows since it’s going to be a clone job gone wrong.
