@juana it definitely should not. Please do not run it with the door open. This could easily hurt/harm someone because of microwave radiation. What you seem to have is a stuck interlock switch. This switch usually stops the flow of electricity when the door is opened. Manufacturer part number is WB24X10029 Number 604 in the diagram
