Hello, I recently bought the replacement SSD bundle from ifixit for our EMC 2429 2011 iMac. Our previous HDD has a partition that has gone bad and will only boot in safe or single user mode. iMac Intel 21.5" and 27" (Mid 2011) SSD Upgrade Kit After installation of the new SSD the fan runs on high constantly. I followed the online instructions completely, and added the new inline thermal sensor when installing the SSD. I put back in the old defective HDD with its built in sensor and booted to single user mode and no fan running on high. Is the new thermal sensor in this bundle not compatible with our model of iMac? It is the kit ifixit recommends for our model of iMac though. Are these thermal sensors known to occasionally be bad out of the box? Thanks, SD Dan

The problem is here that since High Sierra the firmware was updated as well. So no replaced thermal sensor will be recognized.
