I have a 6 year old May tag Centennial Washer. It squeaks during agitation and spin cyles. However it does run.I desire to be proactive. Please enumerate the propert troubleshooting steps.

Squeeks are usually associated with the drain pump. Here’s a video on how to fix this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqj0lrk1… It can also be cause by the motor mounts, at the very bottom of your Maytag, the tub supports rest on rubber damper pads. These may be dry or worn out or possibly one of the centering springs has come off or broken. To fix this you need to remove the cabinet. Get at it under the console to unlatch or unscrew it, then tilt the entire outer casing forwards to remove. The pads are in a ring on the base. If they are just very dry, lube them with a silicone grease. I prefer Dow 111, but others are available at appliance stores
