I spilled some coffee on my mac and turned it off and left it tiled so the little bit of coffee could drain off of it. ( i really spilled it on the table and 1-2 oz got on the mac). At the end of the day after using it for maybe 30 min the screen began to flicker and then cut out…. I tested it with an external display and it works great. all ports work great just the screen is not turning on? Could this be that coffee residue is in the cables or does it sound like the screen is really done for?

Clearly the issue is localized to the display and/or to where the display is connected to the logic board. You’ll need to take the bottom cover off to inspect things to see if you see any traces of Coffee. Follow this guide MacBook Pro 16" 2019 Lower Case Replacement as its the same physical process. I’m not sure if disabling AutoBoot works on the M series as I haven’t seen one yet. If you see any staining just take some nice tight and clear pictures so we can help you in the inspection and post them here Adding images to an existing question
