I recently purchased a non-working SoundTouch portable. The seller thought it was just the battery, but that does not seem to be the case. I have tried hard resets but am not having any luck. Bose Support has stated they can fix it for me for $99 if I send it to them. I’d like to see if there are things I can do before sending.
Hey Joseph, Seems that I have a very similar problem as yours. Unit does not show any signs of life. I replaced 2 caps on power pcb that were slightly expanded. Still no life. When I measure volts on batery terminals on a speaker side, I get 18V. However when the battery is connected, the most I get is 8V. 11V battery can’t get charged with 8V. And batt is dead completely. Nothing on any terminal. Have you figured it out if unit can be operated on AC power without a battery? Thx
Same seem to have happened to my unit after I was forced to upgrade to the latest firmware.
If the battery is not charging (and app. stops working because empty battery) then a condensor of 10uf/35V is defective (to high ESR). Naer the coil.
