My harman Kardon sound sometimes distorts on music with a heavy bass

Hi Jay, I tried to follow your advise , but still makes same sound distorted , but today I tried plugging in my stereo earphone it sounded perfect the bass works nice even in low bass sound. I was thinking it was really a bad speaker coil that produce such a distorted bass sound. Sam

This is common with these types of speaker systems. The Harmon Kardon Aura has built-in equalization and protection circuitry, but it can only do so much. Heavy bass can sometimes overwhelm these circuits and the small bass speaker. You can try turning down the bass settings, either in the Aura itself or through the source you’re playing the music with. If you still have distortion regardless of your tone settings, then there may be damage to the bass speaker in your Aura. This can happen over time if the speaker is overdriven. Replacing the bass speaker is possible, but it’s not an easy task since the Aura isn’t designed to be taken apart very easily.

the speaker won’t need replacing or fixing, if it does it will only happen again if listening at the same volume with the same audio files, if its only intermittently its the track itself (due to compression of audio files when recorded or converted into mp3 or lower quality formats) each recording will be slightly different that’s why its only happening sometimes, its always going to struggle with really low bass from the size of the speaker (normally an 8" or over is best for strong bass) and its capabilities especially over Bluetooth , it will only handle a limited frequency range and will struggle at the bottom end especially if on a louder volume, try lowering the bass or volume that may stop it.

My son took a bottle of water with cap on half full and set it on top of it plugging up the hole could that blow the speaker
