Hello, everyone! I have a Sony V444ES receiver that I inherited from my dad. Several months ago, all of a sudden it stopped working. The easiest way to describe the issue is that the second you plug it in, a loud and rapid clicking happens. The display doesn’t even come on or flicker. It happens continually until you unplug it. I disconnected every possible thing (speakers, TV audio, etc.) and that didn’t help. I unplugged it for an hour or so and then plugged it back in and it still makes the sound. I left it unplugged for a month or so and then for fun just plugged it back in…and it magically started working again…for about 5 weeks. This morning, I woke up to the same rapid clicking sound and it no longer works. Here’s a recording of the clicking sound: https://soundcloud.com/jdriel/sony-v444e…. Is this something that can be fixed by an amateur? Any help is greatly appreciated! Here are some pictures and a video:

@jdriel sounds electro-mechanical in nature. Check the power supply and around the big transformer for loose contacts, bad relays etc. in the inside of your receiver. You can download the service manual for it from here. Post some good pictures of your boards etc. so we can try and assist you further. Adding images to an existing question
