I have fingerprint unlocking activated on my Sony Xperia z5, but sometimes when I press the power button and place my finger there, it shows on the screen “fingerprint hardware not detected”. Sometimes It fixes after I spam the power button a few times. Other times that doesn’t work , so I try to restart the phone and when the phone boots up, the fingerprint option in the security menu completely disappears! And obviously I can’t use my fingerprint to unlock the phone anymore, till I restart the phone again to get it working, but sometimes the “fingerprint hardware not detected” thingy would still pop up. Is this really a hardware issue or is this just a software bug? And is there an actual way to fix this easily? Thanks for reading this and please reply :D
I only managed to fix this by doing a restore from the xperia mobile app which the phone installs on a computer. Unfortunately I had to start from scratch, and it still seems that after some time the fingerprint scanner will stop working, again. Seems to be some kind of firmware issue Sony has, perhaps a system cache not clearing properly, which causes it to bug out over time.
