The charging port got wet and expanded, so cable will not connect. Phone works fine and will charge on a charging pad. I can change screens on Apple devices with no problem, so I should be able to tackle this. However, is there any reason to NOT open the phone and change it out after water exposure? Thanks!
I would open it regardless if there was liquid contact. But this is the perfect opportunity to do a bit more complex repair. The charge port on the XS max takes some more doing than the screen, but well worth it. Make sure nothing else seems damaged by the liquid exposure while you’ve got the phone open. Keep your screws and bits organnized and just be mindful of some of the smaller connectors, but I would 100% endorse doing this repair.
