Hi, I purchased my Tritton headset two years ago and it worked perfectly with my old Xperia. However, when I updated my phone to a Z3, the headset would not work with the normal cable and only works with the extended one that is normally used for the PC. Any tips on how to fix this will be appreciated as the 2.5 meter cable is rather cumbersome when I carry it around.
The cable on the left is the one that is attached to the headphones and the one on the right is the extender cable.
Hi, You say that it works with the extended cable but not the normal cable. As I do not know your headset model, does this indicate that the cables are able to be interchanged on the headset? If so I suggest that you use an Ohmmeter to check the wiring continuity from end to end in each cable. They should be both the same. That is check from the tip connection of the jack at one end of a cable to the tip connection at the other end of the same cable. Do this for the 4 connectors on the jack. It may be that you have a wiring problem in the cable. The usual convention for jack wiring is as shown in the image below. (click on the image to enlarge it for better viewing).
