I just fixed my xbox 360 form the red rings caused from over heating. testing 3 different disc drives (that work in my other xbox systems with no issues) reads the disc but when you hit play game it go to a black screen then back to the 360 dash bored. it also recognizes that i’m hitting the detail button for the game but wont switch over to the detail screen. Any answer as to why this is happening and possible solutions to fix it would be vary helpful.
Hi David. When you say different disc drives do you mean DVD drives or HDD (hard) Drives..? If you are trying DVD drives the problem is that the DVD drive that comes fitted to your xbox will only work with that console… The DVD firmware works with the coded processor and they pair-up. If the main processor does a code check on your DVD drive and the firmware serial code is wrong then the console main processor will only allow you to play DVD movies and not games.
