For days I’ve been trying to figure out why my 13” Mid 2012 MacBook wouldn’t power on. I tried a few tricks but none would work so I poured some alcohol on a few spots and found some bubbling on one section. I poked at c6213 on the Logic Board and it came off then suddenly my MacBook power on. I’m not sure what c6213 does, or if it’s needed but it seems to be working fine without it. I’m was shocked when I heard the machine powering on because I thought for sure I had messed something up. Can the machine stay running good without c6213?

What you encountered was a shorted out capacitor, it does happen! As to why taking out off worked, there is a second cap in series which is now keeping your system running. I wouldn’t run the system like this as the load will kill the other capacitor! Then you’ll have more to fix.

Time to get a replacement 1.0 UF 20@ 6.3v 603-1 package.
