Solved Works Normally Connected To Usb 2 0 Port Not Even Detected To A 3 0 Western Digital Elements Hd

This disk drive is 6 years old and has always worked in 3.0 mode but for some months I have noticed that it is not even detected when it is connected to a 3.0 (SS) type port. Instead it normally works at the speed expected for protocol 2.0, when it is at a USB 2.0 port. Why? Has something been irreparably damaged? I tried to format it but it didn’t help.

Try another cable for the portable hard drive. Most likely the cable has worn out. If not the hard drive would need to be replaced.

Bro OMG. WHAT A SIMPLE FIX. EVERYONE NEEDS TO TRY THIS IF THEY HAVE AN ELEMENT. ALL I DID was attach a usb extendo cable to the WD 1tb usb3 cable. So to my pc it looks like I’m plugging in a usb2 and ALL THE SUDDEN It WORKS PERFECTLY AGAIN WOOT
