I have a work horse gt-1642 and the read end is stuck in between ranges. The wheels are locked up solid and when I put the belt on and let the clutch out it stalls the engine.
Its on a riding mower. Made from 1982-1983. I found the problem. It had water that froze in the rear end locking it up
I don’t know what a “work horse” is. A truck with a drive belt? Regardless, if the wheels are “locked up solid”, do you think that trying to make it turn with the engine is going to fix it? Take the wheels off and check the brakes, who knows, maybe they are locking one or both axles. If the thing has a differential you might be able to get the rear plate off and see everything. Drain it first. By the way does it have gear lube in it?
