My macbook suddenly shut off (might be because it was at 10%, but usually its fine) and won’t turn on anymore. I tried the SMC reset, charged it all night, the charger stayed orange. I went to the genius bar and they said it might be a logic board issue, they also told me when the battery is disconnected the machine still thinks it is charging the battery so there might be a power leak? Since then I’ve taken it home, unplugged the battery and tried turning it on with the charging cable connected. The charger stays orange and does not turn on. I think it might be some corrosion because I have a habit of using my laptop before/after showers, so it stays in the bathroom with me while showering, but I am very inexperienced and do not know what this would look like.
Bad batteries can cause issues to the logic board charging circuit sometimes, but things can go bad on their own with time too. With logic board not working even without the battery, there’s nothing you can do without thorough testing and components replacement, but that needs skills and tools. Either you find someone in your area into component level repairs or you’ll have to replace your logic board.
