Keeps freezing, with no pattern. Works great for days and then freezes over and over again, especially using Photoshop or watching video on line. (I have lots of memory). I used Disk Warrior by connecting to another computer but it didn’t help much. Thanks for any help!
Go into your system profiler and see just how much of that memory is seen. The slots can go bad as well as the RAM. Try reseating the RAM and testing one slot at a time, with each of the chips. Also RAM that has been hit with ESD (electrostatic discharge) may behave very erratically, working sometimes and not others. Consider where the RAM came from and how it was installed. A charge of 1/10th the amount it takes to feel a spark of static electricity can ruin RAM.
Thanks for your instruction, however, my computer is reading all of the 2G memory. I also have lines (sometimes) across the screen and my computer sometimes shuts off by it’s self. Someone suggested it might be the Logic board" ’ Logic Board: the early MacBook Pros had problems with the Nvidia 8600 and the Ati 1600 GPUs.’ Anyone have more info?
The title implies that the MacBook won’t boot from any install disks, but it will boot from your already-installed OS? If that is the case it may be your optical drive causing some issues. Try booting from an external USB optical (if you have one).
