Hi, everyone. So my macbook seemed to work perfectly fine one day and then refused to power on the next. I’ve tried smc reset various times with power cable and without. I’ve tried it with the battery disconnected, but with the power cable plugged in. I’ve tried to power on with the keyboard disconnected. I’ve tried a lot lol, but it still shows no signs of life. Just the green or orange light on the charger. Starting to lose hope tbh. Any recommendations? Thanks. Lee.
Thanks for trying to help here guys. I ended up booking myself into the genius bar at my local apple store. Just before I was due to leave I thought I’d give the mac a wipe down. As I did to to the keyboard something strange happened… it powered on and has worked fine since. I now make sure I shut it down properly each time. I used to just close the lid and don’t think that helped. Strange but I’m happy.
Hello Lee, I don’t know too much about MacBooks. But as far as I know, MacBooks require a battery plugged in to turn on. This is most likely because the power cord charges the battery which charges the computer. My best guess is you seem to have a cooked battery. If you are able to, try plugging in the old battery to another MacBook and see if it turns on . If not, it appears you would have a dead bat. This is even more likely to be the case from your battery being from 2013. Battery’s really don’t last that long.
