Hi everyone, I got an strange question. Does anyone know what could cause the power windows to work only when the front doors are opened on a W140? (Doesn’t matter which door, one has to be opened). Same goes for the sunroof. I’ve changed/check the fuses, relays etc. A bit lost right now.
Rabbit , This could be a little work to identify the fault, all fuses/relays looked good, I would suspect pinched/broken wires in the door hinged area. may have to peel back the cover on the harness to check(see last link). You are not alone with this problem, checked a few forums and posted a few below that talk about this issue. Found this statement at the link below. a diode in the fuse box. You can also perhaps have the car scanned for error codes as this may lead to the fault. Some of the auto parts suppliers offer free code reading like Pepboys, Nappa, Advanced auto parts,etc and some of the guys are very knowledgeable and may have seen the issue often and put you on the right track.
