Chosen Solution

up until today I could plug my ipod on my computer and Itunes would do its thing, today I plug in and Itunes loads but it tells me that it can’t recognize my Ipod nano. I have removed and re-installed Itunes and still not luck.

I was facing the same issue after upgrading to Windows 8.1. You need to remove EVERYTHING that has anything to do with iTunes to fix this problem. Make sure to remove Apple mobile device support, bonjour, Apple software update, Apple application support and of course iTunes. This article will help you to remove everything: http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1923 Now re-install the iTunes software and you’re good to go. I hope it helps.

I removed everything as you suggested and re-installed Itunes, it worked! Thank you for taking the time to answer, you have saved an HP windows computer from being listed on craig’s list, under the heading, “computer junk for sale” Thank you Alex22 for your help.

Had the same problem, and this fix worked for me too! Thanks!!!

It worked, thanks!

It worked by uninstalling ALL Apple programs and components. Thank you! I had uninstalled and re-installed iTunes several times, without success. However, it worked like a charm after uninstalling Bonjour and all other Apple programs and then re-installing iTunes.

thank you , working good now

It worked for me as well. Win 8.1 with the same troubles of iPod & iPod Nano did not connect to the item, but succeeded to connect to the computer. Fulfill the instruction above worked like a magic. I’m sorry I didn’t find this article before spending 3 hours for nothing. Thanks

THIS is the real solution to the problem at hand. Thank you very much.

Worked a treat!

I was similing before I’ve done it… In my mind was what a bunch of crazy guys :))) But I was so wrong. Sorry guys. Worked perfectly. Thank youuuu

It works…………….except! If you have 2 ipod devices then it will recognize one but not the other. You have to go to the control panel and update the ipod device driver and reboot each time you switch ipods.
