I have a MacBook Pro (15-inch Late 2011) Is there a hard drive SATA cable replacement for it? Update (12/02/2019)
- The OS is Lion.
Yes there is a replacement, but the cable on this model usually does not fail as it is protected by the notch it fits into: MacBook Pro 15" Unibody (Mid 2009-Late 2011) Hard Drive Cable MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Late 2011 Hard Drive/IR Sensor Cable Replacement UPDATE 12/2/19 Pre-Installed MacOS:X 10.7.2 (11C74)Maximum MacOS:X 10.13.x* Apple started introducing APSF formatting with High Sierra and it tends to mess up SSHD drive so I would go for Seirra. Format the drive GUID - MacOS Extended (Journaled) first. Understand that Apple does not want you to get this machine running as they want to sell you a new one. You will need to set the clock back to within a year of the installer or it will generally tell you the installer is damaged. You have to first install a system and the installer on an external flash drive or other external source. Boot from that and then run Disk Utilities to format the new drive and then do your system installation. FWI This models main problem was with the GPU and if you ever have problems with it, come back as there is a work around.
