Will the missing HDMI Socket diode on my PS4 motherboard affect its functionality?  *Capacitor also missing, but not a vital component.     (1st experience w/ gaming consoles -have an IT degree, so can find my way around, but sorry if my info’s off.) WHAT HAPPENED:  No TV display after a 3ft drop from desk (my son got tangled in the cords) -console still Lights/Sounds and Powers-On. Saw the HDMI’s center pin-board was pushed down & in, but not damaged, so I repositioned it into the socket… And noticed 2 components were missing: The top one, a non-polarized ceramic decoupling capacitor, isn’t vital to functioning. Under that, nearest to the socket, is a Zener diode (like the vertical ones beside it).  –What does this control & will the PS4 work without it.

I don’t know what it controls but I can tell you that it will function without it. Obviously it’s probably better if it’s there but it seems to work fine without it. Hope that helps. Good luck!
