When I switch the camera on, the set time and date message comes on the screen. This has to be set before the message clears from the screen. The next time the camera on you have to go through the same procedure again.
I have a similar camera (A570 IS) and mine has a second type of battery right beside the two main AA ones. It’s under a cover marked “CR1220” which refers to the type of that second battery. Pull that cover up, replace the CR1220 (or whatever battery type your camera has) and that should fix the problem.
If the battery level drops to low, a board will lose its memory. Replace the battery.
