SONY MP3 PLAYER. Have tried three others leads. Not lead. Have reset to factory settings and reformatted. it plays fine and early full battery but it will not charge or be recognised on device. Leads are fine. I have cleaned the fluff from port. Angle of connections look fine. No broken teeth. What are the possibilities? How can I fix it?
Hi, Since you cannot charge the player or connect to it the most likely problem is that the USB port has become disconnected from the motherboard. As it is most probably a SMD (surface mounted device) type USB connector, you will need the requisite tools and expertise to reconnect it to the motherboard. There are videos online showing how to resolder SMD type USB connectors back on. If you feel that this is too daunting a task, contact a reputable, professional laptop repair service or mobile phone repair service and ask for a quote to repair the device. Here is a link to a video showing how to replace the battery in your player. It is handy as it shows how to open the player so that you can gain access to the USB port to inspect its’ connections. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NEFg3PA5…
