My retina display is damaged from a headphone jack that got caught between the lid and keyboard, because I don’t have enough money I’m continuing using it like this. Is this harming my system besides the visible line on the screen its self? Does this affect the computers performance? And if yes what should I do?
Ouch! Well, you won’t hurt your system any more using it this way, but you do need to be careful you don’t bang your system around as its now more fragile and could make things worse. Your workable screen size is also reduced so you may have more of an issue working with it than harming it, depending on what you are using your system for. Just so you know you’ll need to fork over around $800 US to get this fixed. You’ll need a complete new lid assembly. If you have AppleCare+ service contract this would be around half.
