As the subject indicates, if I do not use any optical based games, will the Xbox still run with one not installed? Or will the PCB from the drive still at least need be connected? I ask because I will be installing my second Xbox into a custom case. Which I understand is warranty voiding, but it was bought used.
Yes it will work fine but keep in mind that at some point they might start doing what Sony is now doing…requiring a hardware check with each update. If the disc drive isn’t working on a PS4 then it won’t update.
