Okay so I’ve had a wii u pro controller for over a month, and its been working fine. Until an hour ago, when the wii u console froze, I had to unplug the console and replug it into the power outlet. When I turned the wii back on, the wii u pro controller stopped working. Although the wii u gamepad worked perfectly. It would still show a red light to indicate that it is charging, but I click a button on the controller and the 4 blue lights don’t come on(like they usually do). So please can someone help me. Update (01/02/2014) #1 yes #2 no #3 yes blue light battery level red-charging Problem is, only light on is red(won’t work, tried charging, nothing happened)

There is a small hole on the back, to the right of the sync button and a visible screw. Use a pin or something to press it in for like 10sec - it will reset the controller. Worked for me.

A bit more info please?

  • Have you charged it completely?
  • If you press the SYNC button the the back, can another Bluetooth capable device (such as a PC or sometimes a phone) recognize the controller?
  • Have you pressed the SYNC button on the controller followed by pressing it on the Wii U as well to see if it can connect? Some statements:
  • The RED light indicates a drained or low battery. The ORANGE light indicates that the controller is charging.
  • I don’t think that the Wii U Pro Controller can indicate it’s battery level with its four blue LED’s (I might be wrong…)

When you push a button on a Wii-/WiiU-Controller, the 4 LEDs, used to show what player you are, tend to flash, indicating how much the Battery is charged.

Did you have a non nintendo screen protector on? We bought an “icon” brand screen protector. It worked at first the first couple days we had the Wii. The next day, the gamepad became completely unresponsive. After we tried what other people said, which was take the battery out. It worked a little bit. but the screen was jittering back and forth, we couldn’t click on anything. Some of the buttons worked again but not all. after troubleshooting for 4 hours, we finally decided to take off the icon screen cover. WOW! Now it works perfectly. My husband had read that nintendo said other screen covers could mess up the Gamepad, and they weren’t kidding.

I had the same issue. What I found to be the fix after calling Nintendo was to turn the Wii U console on before the game pad’. As goofy as it sounds, this was my fix. Hopefully that helps.

You just need to reset your controller I had the same problem but then I reset my controller

Is there an orange light and does it show it is charging. If so, charge it then wait until the battery finishes then press a button and it will work. It takes a long time to finish the battery. I have an afterglow pro controller and the same thing happened. I waited and it worked, I hope this will work for you as well.

take a pin, hit the reset button on the back of the controller. then re hit the sync button on your wii u then rehit the sync button on the back of the controller . should fix your problum.

my controller is not turning on no matter how much icharge it. so i went to eb games to fix it

My wii u pro controller (black) charges fine, displaying a orange light and it (the light) times out after 25-30 minutes. When I hit the sync button, nothing happens. The controller stays in a normal state. There are 3 things on the back of my controller: a sync button, a screw and a hole (about the same size as the sync button, slightly smaller) I’ve watched 3 videos and seen 2 forums and apparently nobody I’ve seen has this problem. I tried to use Nintendo’s forums, but for some reason it keeps on saying ‘the link you used to access this page is no longer valid’ despite using it 1-2 minutes after the link was sent (it said 24 hours max) so I had to find something new. Could you please tell me what my problem is? I’ve tried most of the things that you’ve used but they don’t work.
