My iPhone 6 WiFi has stopped working (Bluetooth works). I have tried a phone restart, resetting network settings, an OS upgrade to iOS 12, none of which resolved the issue. I have a spare iPhone 6 handset, (iOS 11.2.5) with a damaged screen from which the WiFi works, so I’m wondering if I could just swap the logic boards from the damaged handset. Do I need to worry about the touchID button? Is there any requirement to upgrade iOS to 12 on the handset (with cracked screen) before replacing logic boards - I’m not familiar with where firmware updates apply

It’ll be easier to just swap the working screen and Home Button (to retain Touch ID) to the spare device. For all intents and purposes, the logic board IS the phone.
