Received a used Toshiba satelite A105. Was working fine for a while. Has XP as the OS on it. When i first had it it was connecting to WIFI via the regular network manager. My fiance had the laptop for a week away from home. Now that its back it will not connect via the network adapter. There seems to be a software controlling the adapter now. When i try to use the software to connect to the internet it will not, stating there’s errors. Im totally unsure how this software ( config free) just one day decided to take controll of the WIFI hardware. When i try to use the regular xp WiFi network manager it says that it cannot be done because another software (config free) is managing that connection. Every time i try to uninstall the software ( config free) it does not allow it. Just wondering how to go about it? Or what can be done to fix it.
Here is a link to remove Config free form your Toshiba. Good luck http://www.ehow.com/how_5152797_remove-t… Another thing you could try is finding a restore point from before she left with the computer and restoring to that point.
Mike, If your desire is to uninstall Config Free, restart your computer, and when the computer begins booting press F8. This will bring up a boot menu and you can start the computer in “safe mode” which should prevent Config Free from starting with the OS. Then you should be able to remove it without an issue and you can get back to your old uninterrupted WiFi setup! Hope this helps and let us know what happens.
With XP in normal mode, hit “Start” -> “Run” -> type “msconfig” -> Tab “Services” -> find “ConfigFree service” -> and take off the “v” on most left. -> click “Apply” -> restart computer -> remember that if you and your fiance have separate log in profiles, it may have to be done from the profile that installed it, or the Administrator one. Hope this helps, good luck.
