WiFi and bluetooth quite functioning several weeks ago. Took it to Genius bar but they could not fix it. I attempted to use it this week for the first time in about two weeks and the WiFi was now fully functional. (forgot to check Bluetooth.) I then got an iOS update message to upgrade to 10.2. I did this via wifi and when the unit was again available, the wifi and Bluetooth were no longer functional. The wifi button is not in focus again. Did a hard restore via my desktop where I downloaded the ios 10.2 to the desktop and then did a restore from a fresh version of 10.2. Nothing I’d tried works. I really don’t think it is the OS since I got it to work again in 10.1

The IC U5800 is responsible for WiFi & BT functionality on the iPad Air. The problem could stem from a bad IC or solder joint following an impact or it could have to do with some of the surrounding circuitry. Many micro-soldering repair shops structure their fees on a no fix/no fee basis so you do’t have much to lose. Search for someone local and ask them how they handle the teardown and re-assembly of the iPad as the digitizer can break and it needs to be properly secured with good quality adhesive when rebuilt. That may incur some costs even if the repair does not solve your problem. Keep in mind that Apple will replace your unit with a refurbished device, not a new one and they only warranty it for 90 days. Then determine what suits your needs the best.
