Hello all! A few weeks back a customer came in with he’s iphone 5S and said the Wi-Fi Signal was acting weird. He also said that he has to be very close to the router in order to get a good signal. So i did some testing and as soon as i walked away from the router the signal droppet to 2 Bars. After walking about 3-4 Meters away from the router the Wi-Fi Signal was completely gone. So i went ahead and changed the Wi-Fi antenna. This didnt help very much So after i tried the following:
- Restored and updated the phone
- Changed the Wi-Fi Antenna again (in case the first one was broken)
- Did a software rollback to IOS 9
- Didnt help so i went ahead and restored and updated the phone in itunes. All this and still the same result. Bad Wi-Fi signal. Anyone have any ideas?
@captaintech , Svein, could be a problem with your phone’s Wi-Fi IC failing, Check the link below, may help solve your issue. Good luck. I hope this helped you out, if so let me know by pressing the helpful button. http://blog.brokenlcds.com/iphone-5-blue…
I’ve seen this happen before in a 5s and it was slightly water damaged. Is there any sign of water damage? If not, try the charge port too. This shouldn’t have any bearing technically on the Wifi signal, but I have seen this fix the Wifi signal before. If that doesnt help, more than likely you have a board level issue somewhere. There are several reputable eBay companies that do board level diagnostics and repair. I have used a company out of NY who does excellent work.
