Recordings shows up in screen of Zi8, but when plugged into my computer the only thing I get is a blank screen and my voice
Try removing and reading your SD card with a cheap USB to SD card reader (bestbuy or walmart should be less that $20). You should be able to browse the files and find files named <date/time stamp>.mp4 or something like. After seeing the very comical looking USB port on this thing I would suspect that is your point of failure. But this should at least allow you to the files. If you are able to recover/view the full video files this way I expect that is proof that the USB interface of your recorder is damaged …. don’t know how to fix though.
