why wont my 1985 e z go golf cart accerate with the new muffler on it? itran good without it just loud

@carriespears2 it appears as if your muffler is not letting the exhaust escape which creates back pressure on your engine. Double check that you have the right muffler and that you have nothing obstructing the outlet at the muffler as well as the outlet on the cylinder head where the muffler bolts on to. Update (05/13/2018) make sure that your exhaust port is absolutely clear/clean. Double check it for carbon residue etc. If it is already narrowed the new muffler may add more of a restriction to good exhaust flow. Update (05/13/2018) when you unbolt the muffler, take a look at the engine side you should see something similar as in the picture I’ve attached. that is the exhaust port. If you can, post some pictures of what the one on your engine looks like. Do you have a part number for the muffler that you bought? It might help us to identify your engine etc.

Update (05/14/2018) @carriespears2 darn! I never realized how much those mufflers cost. Anyhow, yes the muffler is right. Okay so on your Robin 244CC the 130 for the compression is very good as well (anything over 100) is considered acceptable. I do not have any information about a Robin EG25-2 but have plenty on EC25-2. See if the attached manual on page 16 looks like yours.engines.PDF If so, use this to do some basic maintenance like adjusting timing and points as well as your carb. I recognize all this back and forth must be a real PITA for you but some things are just easier to fix online than others.

Just a thought . The gasket you got with the muffler . Did you knock out the center of it . Sometimes the gasket comes with the center section not cut out and its up to you to knock the center out .If it did and you didn’t it wont run . Hey stranger things have happened . Hope this helps
