john.the.trucker, Sound like like the hammer selection switch is sticking, you may have to take the drill apart and clean the internal mechanism then lightly lube it with lithium grease. The engagement lever could also be damaged and need replaced. Posted a link below on disassembly, not your exact model but may help you get the drill apart enough to make repair and a link showing exploded view of internal parts. Good luck.
