Chosen Solution

Hi, I replaced my screen on my 6 plus. I have transferred over the original home button to the new display. I had to get a new backplate because it would not recognize touch id. Now with the new backplate I no longer get a touch ID error, but the phone simply won’t recognize my finger on the home button. I have updated to latest iOS, restored to factory defaults, and gone through multiple iterations of ensuring the cables are seated properly. My only guess now is that the home button itself could be damaged, but that’s why I’m here. Thanks!

That’s a logical assumption. I would double check the condition of the Home Button itself, especially the tiny flex cable directly attached to the button and the components on it. It may recognize the sensor but perhaps a data line is damaged. I would also check the condition of all the connectors in the path, i.e. on the HB flex, on the Backplate flex, on the logic board. It may be damage or debris.
