Chosen Solution

My phone stopped charging. But, I could still play music through the dock connector using my iHome clock radio. So, I assumed the battery was the issue. I replaced the battery and the phone still would not charge. So, I opened the phone and looked at the dock connector piece. I noticed that the water indicator is not completely white. Nor is it completely red (indicating water damage). But, it is about half red. Could the dock connector be the problem? Will swapping it out allow me to charge the phone?

That’s interesting. Since you replaced the battery and the problem still persists I would think that replacing the Dock Connector would be your next best step to take. The only other problem I could think of would be that the cable you were using was faulty, but it sounds like you’ve tried that already. There is a repair manual for that procedure with a list of tools and parts you’ll need, as well as the instructions to do the replacement. iPhone 4 Verizon Dock Connector Replacement Hopefully that’ll solve your problem!

You need to turn it in to a repair shop for that model phone. https://www.apple.com/support/iphone/rephttps://www.apple.com/support/iphone/rep
