Yesterday I was working on an essay for my class when suddenly horizontal lines appeared all over the screen. I just realized when I opened a navigator, because these lines don’t show on black/white background. I tried to reboot and nothing happened. It seems like a hardware issue since I rebooted my MacBook with Windows 10 (I have this other OS installed via bootcamp) and the same problem appeared. My MacBook is off the warraty, is there any way to fix it without paying hundreds of dollars for a screen replacement? My laptop Is a late 2016 MacBook pro with touchbar Thanks
If this is another broken cable, no. You need to replace the screen. Go to Apple then in the future maybe they will give a refund if this continues to get ugly.
Are you still seeing lines? The only experience i had with lines going horizontal on my screen was when my laptop was cold. Once it warmed up I saw them slowly disappear. It was kinda eerie.
To verify the diagnosis, hook it up to an external monitor. If the, monitor displays the same lines, then your GPU is failing.
