Hello everybody, I need help about my mac. The problem is my Mac seems to be lagging, I often encounter the spinning Colored beachball often shows up even when I’m just opening the Finder only. But when I don’t do anything its fine, the problem shows up mostly when I’m copying data it will stop for sec then the process will continue again, I already installed a fresh copy of the OS-X and nothing changed, I also checked the disk with Disk Utility and any other software it seems fine, Sorry for my bad explanation, Thanks.
A common problem is the drive cable gets worn so the drive & CPU have a hard time talking with each other which is why you see the beachball. You’ll need to first make a backup of your drive so you don’t loose anything. Slowly copy off folder by folder as a you don’t want to over stress the system. Once you’ve copied off your stuff try making a TimeMachine backup of just your OS & Apps. It may fail, and you’ll then need to reinstall your apps after we fix things. OK, you’ll need to follow this IFIXIT guide: MacBook Pro 13" Unibody Late 2011 Hard Drive Cable Replacement but you really want to use this part: MacBook Pro 13" Unibody (Mid 2012) Hard Drive Cable - Apple P/N 923-0104 as Apple improved the part in the newer model. Once you’ve replaced the cable you’ll need to reformat your drive and install a fresh copy of OS as often the OS is damaged on your HD from the problem. Follow this guide to create an OS installer drive: How to create a bootable macOS Sierra installer drive. Then run TimeMachine to install your Apps and copy back your stuff.
