Hi! I wondering that since I got my fat 80GB PS3 repaired from YLOD, does it come back after a little bit because my PS3 turns off while I play a game. Do you think it"s because off an old power supply because I’ve had my PS3 for more than 8 years. If it’s not an old power supply please tell me what else it is. OK thank you!
Jasper Locquiao, it does sound like it is overheating. This will of course depend on how the previous repair was done. It will depend on if it was by replacing the CPU or was it done through a reflow. Even reflows are only limited. YLOD (as well as RROD on a Xbox) are caused by the design of the processor, not by bad or cracked solder joints. You could try another reflow and see if it works. Best would be a new CPU reball.
I would try buying a new power supply and seeing if it works. You can try taking to game stop and see if they will let you try a new power supply. Good Luck
