I have this iphone 7 and it heats up even not in use. As it in stand by mode. It charge normally. It also shuts down or restarts sometimes randomly even before battery is zero. It heats up during use and while not in use. Secondly, battery drains fastly when not in use followed by heating as mentioned above.

The problem may be because of a faulty/heavily degraded battery. You may need a replacement battery.

This sounds like a short on one of the main power rails. You will need to check the PP_BATT_VCC and the PP_VDD_MAIN line with a multimeter. Is this the same phone that has the cell problems?
