Hi there! I have an iPhone 5S which I traded a broken Galaxy S6E for.The phone looks good, problem is that the battery drains a bit quicker than expected. It gets a bit warm but very little. It continues to drain overnight or in my pocket, Wien 20/30/40% randomly shuts down and it doesen’t accept all the cables. He gave me the original cable which seems to work for now.I’ve read on the Internet that it may be iOS 11.2.1 that causes issues, but not sure.
If it dies fast and you tested the battery, you have a faulty U2 IC chip and needs to be replaced and resoldered! A board level technician will be able to replace it for you! Also using third party cables and modified cables can also blow the U2 IC Tristar chip on the board and you get those symptoms!
Check the health of the battery using one of these: Windows: 3UTools Mac OS X: Coconutbattery iOS: Battery Life If your battery health is close to 80% or lower, consider replacing the battery. You have a few options on getting a battery replacement, either by:
- Doing it yourself (DIY).
- Taking it to a mobile phone repair shop.
- Taking it to the apple store (booking a genius bar appointment). Guide to replace the battery: How to replace the battery in your iPhone 5s You can buy a replacement battery from iFixit here: iPhone 5s Battery
Stay away from the ‘Battery Life’ app… it’s a total rip off, and will tell you nothing more that what you already know about your battery. It gives absolutely no info on ‘wear and tear’ percentages etc… all it will tell you is how much % in charge it has left, which of course you already know! The better app to get is ‘Battery Testing’.
