Chosen Solution
There is a pin in the gear shifter that gets stuck outside of its gard and then won’t let the key come out of ignotion. Is there a way to fix this issue? I have cleaned and lubricated this part several times it works for a few days and then gets stuck out again.
Michael sorge, This does not seem to be an isolated problem, it appears most recommend replacing the shifter assy. to repair the issue, although the 2nd link below talks of how he fixed the issue by disassembling shifter, replacing the stock plastic plastic shifter push rod and made/fabricated a steel shift push rod and pressed in the horizontal pin tight(sorry not a lot to go by).
